Helyx is live: build your Defence estate watchlist before the tender lands

Business news Consultant Opportunities Contractor Opportunity Lessons Learned Market Sounding Panels Project Controls Stakeholder Engagement Tips & Tricks

Helyx is now live.

After launching at the Indian Ocean Defence & Security Conference and Exhibition in Perth in late May, we have signed up our first 15 users and are now opening Helyx demos for Defence estate professionals who want a more practical way to track projects, bases, opportunities, contractors and market signals.

That first group of users matters because it confirms the problem we built Helyx to solve is real. People working around the Defence estate do not just need more information. They need a better way to decide what to watch, why it matters and when to act.

For the past three years, DECNET has helped the Defence estate community make sense of policy, project activity, procurement signals, base investment, industry briefings and market movement. Through DECNET Pro, we have built a content and analysis platform for people who want deeper context on the Defence estate sector.

But over time, a different need became obvious.

BD managers, capture leads, consultants, contractors, regional firms and suppliers were not just asking, “What is happening?” They were asking much more operational questions:

Which bases should we monitor?
Which projects match our capability and geography?
Which contractors are active in our target region?
Which opportunities are still early enough for positioning?
Which public sources have changed?
Which signals matter this week?

That is why we built Helyx.

From content to workflow

Helyx is not a replacement for DECNET Pro. It does a different job.

DECNET Pro helps members understand the Defence estate market through analysis, briefings, recordings, reports and sector context.

Helyx helps users act on the market through watchlists, saved searches, alerts, project and base tracking, contractor views, source-backed records and weekly digest workflows.

Put simply:

DECNET Pro explains the market. Helyx helps you work the market.

That distinction is important. Helyx is not a generic tender alert service and it is not just a database with a search bar. Tender alerts are useful, but they often arrive after the positioning window has already started to close. Helyx is designed to help users build a focused watchlist earlier, using public source signals from projects, bases, programs, procurement activity, contractor movement and estate-related updates.

The goal is not to monitor everything. The goal is to reduce noise.

What Helyx does

Helyx gives users a practical workspace for tracking the Defence estate market around their own business priorities.

Users can start from curated watchlists, apply filters for region, service line, base, project stage or asset class, save personalised watchlists, set notification preferences and favourite the listings they want to track.

A consultant might build a watchlist for WA early-stage PMCA and advisory opportunities.
A head contractor might track upcoming main works packages across selected bases.
A subcontractor might follow awarded projects where follow-on packages are likely.
A regional SME might monitor medium works, sustainment activity and active bases in its operating footprint.
A supplier might watch for projects involving fuel, utilities, security systems, accommodation or airfield infrastructure.

Helyx is built around the entities that matter in the Defence estate market: projects, programs, opportunities, contract notices, bases, businesses, government bodies, stakeholders and services.

It is source-backed, practical and deliberately focused. It does not use classified or non-public information. It is designed to organise public and lawful market signals into a workflow that helps users make better commercial decisions.

Why this matters now

The Defence estate market is not short of information. In fact, the opposite is true.

Information is scattered across AusTender, Defence pages, Estate Works Program forecasts, public AIC plans, ministerial releases, industry events, company announcements, base updates and local networks.

That creates a real challenge for industry. A project might first appear as a forecast, then later shift into a notice, a briefing, an award, a contractor relationship or a delivery-stage opportunity. The signal is often there, but it is hard to keep track of unless someone is watching consistently.

Helyx is designed to turn that scattered activity into a manageable weekly workflow.

The question is not, “Can I find more Defence information?”
The question is, “Can I quickly see what has changed, whether it matters to my business, and what I should do next?”

That is the value proposition.

Helyx pricing

Helyx is available in three plan types.

Helyx Professional is for individual BD, capture, estimating, strategy or regional leads. It includes personal watchlists, saved searches, alerts, weekly digest, project, base and company search, limited exports and launch onboarding.

Price: $249/month + GST or $2,490/year + GST.

Helyx Teams is for firms that need shared visibility across BD, estimating, delivery or leadership teams. It includes shared watchlists, a team digest, user roles, exportable briefs, onboarding support and a quarterly usage review.

Price: $699/month + GST or $6,990/year + GST for up to five users.

Helyx Intelligence Partner is for organisations that need a more supported intelligence relationship, including custom watchlists, monthly analyst review, curated project/base/account tracking and executive summaries.

Price: $2,000–$4,000/month + GST, depending on scope.

For launch customers, the annual Helyx Professional plan includes guided watchlist setup, priority onboarding, locked pricing for 12 months and first access to selected team features.

What happens after signup

The onboarding process is deliberately simple.

Rather than asking users to start from a blank screen, Helyx begins with a practical watchlist setup process. We review your business focus, regions and service lines, then help you choose the most relevant curated watchlists and refine them into a small number of personalised views.

The aim is to get each user to a useful first workflow quickly:

Open a curated watchlist.
Add one or two filters.
Save it as a personalised watchlist.
Set notification frequency.
Favourite individual listings worth tracking.
Use the weekly digest to review what changed.

That is the rhythm Helyx is designed to create.

The roadmap from here

The launch version of Helyx is only the beginning.

Our immediate focus is product hardening: better onboarding, stronger saved searches, clearer watchlist setup, reliable weekly digests, cleaner source attribution and a tighter customer capability profile.

Through the next quarter, we are improving the workflow layer: self-serve saved searches, a more useful watchlist dashboard, alert preferences, digest automation, duplicate reduction and relevance scoring.

The next major step is the team layer. That will include shared team watchlists, user roles, account dashboards, exportable opportunity briefs and stronger contractor and base profiles.

Beyond that, Helyx will mature into a relationship-based intelligence layer. The roadmap includes project/base/company timelines, change history, contractor maps, relationship graphs, premium monthly intelligence packs and, where customer demand supports it, integration options for larger teams.

The guiding principle is simple: source before summary, confidence before certainty, workflow before features.

We are not building Helyx to be the loudest product in the market. We are building it to be the most useful one for Defence estate professionals who need to know what to watch next.
